Raspberry Pi has unveiled Compute Module 5 (CM5), a modular variant of its flagship single-board computer.

The CM5 represents a significant advancement in the company’s industrial and embedded computing offerings, featuring a 2.4GHz quad-core 64-bit Arm Cortex-A76 CPU and VideoCore VII GPU with support for OpenGL ES 3.1 and Vulkan 1.3.

This latest iteration maintains mechanical compatibility with its predecessor whilst introducing enhanced capabilities, including dual 4Kp60 HDMI display output, optional dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and two USB 3.0 interfaces supporting simultaneous 5Gbps operation.

The module comes in various configurations, offering 2GB, 4GB, or 8GB of LPDDR4X-4267 SDRAM, paired with 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB of MLC eMMC storage. 16GB SDRAM variants are planned for release in 2025.

Alongside the core module, Raspberry Pi has introduced several complementary accessories, including an IO board that serves as both a development platform and reference design. The company is also offering a metal IO case, a dedicated cooler, and an antenna kit for wireless-enabled variants.

A comprehensive Development Kit has been made available, bundling the CM5 with essential accessories required for product development. The kit includes a 4GB RAM model with 32GB storage, the IO Board, case, cooler, power supply, and necessary cables.

Industry partners KUNBUS and TBS have already announced products based on the new module, with more companies expected to reveal CM5-powered solutions in the coming months.

Compute Module 5 marks a milestone in Raspberry Pi’s evolution from its educational roots to its current position as a major player in industrial computing, with approximately 75% of Raspberry Pi units now deployed in industrial and embedded applications.
